Product details

APsystems DS3 880W Dual-Module Microinverter

The APsystems DS3 is a third-generation, single-phase dual-module microinverter built for high-output residential and light-commercial solar arrays. One unit connects to two compatible PV modules, with a separate MPPT channel for each module. This allows module-level optimization while reducing inverter count, roof hardware and installation labour compared with one-inverter-per-module architectures.

Commercial Advantages

  • One microinverter serves two compatible solar modules.
  • Two independent MPPT channels optimize each module separately.
  • 880VA rated AC output supports modern high-wattage modules.
  • Encrypted Zigbee communication supports APsystems ECU and EMA monitoring.
  • Backwards-compatible with APsystems QS1 and YC600 products and accessories, subject to system-design verification.
  • Canadian DS3 units shipped through authorized distribution on or after May 1, 2025 include APsystems' standard 25-year warranty, subject to terms and distributor confirmation.

  • Arrays with multiple roof faces, partial shading or module mismatch.
  • Installer projects requiring module-level performance visibility.
  • Systems where reducing rooftop inverter count helps simplify installation.

What Is Included?

One APsystems DS3 880VA microinverter. Solar modules, APsystems ECU gateway, trunk cable, Y3 or branch accessories, connectors, end caps, AC protection, racking and installation hardware are not included unless explicitly stated.

Required Companion Components

  • Two electrically compatible PV modules.
  • Correct APsystems AC bus or trunk cable and approved accessories.
  • Appropriate branch-circuit protection and disconnect equipment.
  • APsystems ECU gateway for system commissioning, communications and EMA monitoring.
  • Code-compliant mounting, grounding and electrical installation.

Module Compatibility Check

Do not select a module using wattage alone. The exact panel datasheet must be checked for open-circuit voltage at the site's minimum design temperature, operating voltage, short-circuit current and maximum-power current. Solar World Canada can review the proposed panel model before purchase.

Installation and Replacement Notes

Confirm the existing AC bus-cable generation, connector style, ECU compatibility, branch capacity and utility requirements before using the DS3 as a replacement or expansion. Although APsystems lists compatibility with QS1 and YC600 products and accessories, the complete branch architecture must still be reviewed before installation. Installation must be performed in accordance with the manufacturer instructions and applicable electrical code.

Monitoring

The DS3 uses encrypted Zigbee wireless communication. A compatible APsystems ECU collects microinverter data and sends it to the APsystems Energy Monitoring and Analysis platform. The ECU is normally required for commissioning, system visibility, troubleshooting and owner monitoring.

Warranty

APsystems Canada announced a standard 25-year warranty for DS3 microinverters shipped to authorized Canadian distributors on or after May 1, 2025. Older inventory may carry earlier warranty terms. Confirm the unit's shipment history and distributor warranty before sale. Terms and conditions apply.

Shipping and Pickup

Calgary pickup is available by appointment. Canada-wide shipping is available. For larger project quantities, contact Solar World Canada for stock, branch-component and freight confirmation before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many panels connect to one DS3?
Two compatible PV modules connect to one DS3, with an independent MPPT channel for each module.

Does the DS3 include monitoring?
The microinverter supports monitoring, but a compatible APsystems ECU and commissioned EMA account are required.

Can I use panels larger than 550W?
APsystems describes the DS3 as suitable for modules up to 550W+, but voltage and current compatibility must still be verified from the exact module datasheet.

Can it replace a QS1 or YC600?
APsystems lists the DS3 as compatible with QS1 and YC600 products and accessories. The existing cable, connectors, ECU, branch loading and system configuration must still be checked before replacement.

Is the 25-year warranty automatic?
For qualifying Canadian shipments through authorized distribution on or after May 1, 2025, APsystems states that a standard 25-year warranty applies. Confirm the specific unit and distributor documentation before sale.
